Monday August 21, 2017 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM

What:
Monthly open forum Q & A with Occupational Pilates Teacher and bartender movement consultant Marcia Polas.

Why:
Bartending is one of the most physically rigorous repetitive motion professions in existence. And although it’s also one of the oldest professions, we still haven’t addressed how to have a long career behind the bar without wrecking your body, and eventually having to decide if you’ll walk away from the job you love, or commit to a lifetime of chronic pain and potential career ending injury.

Cost:
$30 per person.
[$10 of the cost goes to a charity selected by participants each month.]

Payment method:
Venmo full amount to @polaspilates in advance or bring exact change to the door.

Where:
Radiator D.C., 1430 Rhode Island Ave., NW, Washington DC 20005

When:
Monday, August 21, from 12-2 pm (third Monday of each month)

Who is Marcia Polas
In workshops and Private sessions around the country, Marcia Polas addresses what actually goes wrong behind the bar, how the patterns you walked in with create the issues you are dealing with daily, and how to unravel your harmful patterns, readdress the physicality of standing behind the bar: shaking/stirring/pouring a drink, properly leaning into any rail, and keeping Kold Draft Ice from destroying your joints. She explains why all the exercise (Yoga/Pilates/Running/Cross-Fit/Meditation), massage, and chiropractic we are offering as wellness solutions to bartenders are bandages against the rigors of the job and daily offers bartenders effective tools to address the problems created behind the bar and teaches you to stop undermining your career and to break the cycle so those bandages are no longer needed.
